On the upslope side of the ditch you find a stone platform — on which a guard house would have been built — and above, a series of cross-ridge stone walls. I would honestly recommend not even approaching mining until you can get yourself 4 bins — it is hard work with less, as you are constantly dumping captured ore when you come across better ore, then your stuck fragging roids till you find higher quantities of that ore.

Hotspots don't deplete, excepting cores that have been detonated, leaving a cloud for 6 days, until respawn. With Elite : Dangerous here after just called Elite Frontier developments will show you just how big space really is. Docking was a big part of the original Elite and is again in the remake. It takes time to dock. It takes time to travel between planets.

Hyperspace is near instant. You can fly anywhere. You can fly from one space station to another. You can even fly direct from one star to another.

No hyperspace actually required. But this takes quite some time. Someone has already tested this. It took 14 hours. You can travel to earth orbit and see our stars as they really are. You can sit and watch a moon orbit the planet. Someone did, and took a screen shot every 10 seconds of it.

There are three different modes of travel, all completely separate and totally different.Hotspots are persistent mining locations found within Planetary Ring Systems that contain a high concentration of crackable "motherlode" asteroids containing a specific mineral resource. The number and quality of motherlode asteroids found at a Hotspot can fluctuate as more and more pilots mine it.

Heavily-mined Hotspots will become temporarily depleted, making motherlode asteroids less common and less profitable, but eventually those Hotspots will replenish themselves. When close enough to the rings, the Detailed Surface Scanner can be activated to probe the rings.

If the rings contain any Hotspots, the probe will highlight them and identify the mineral they contain. After arriving at the Hotspot, the Pulse Wave Analyser and Prospector Limpet can be used to identify specific resource-rich asteroids for mining. Sign In Don't have an account? Start a Wiki. Kruoth View Profile View Posts. I've noticed that the asteroid changes from yellow to bright yellow after it's been scanned, these asteroids seem to have opals. Don't be fooled when coming accross bright smooth round types of asteroids they have nothing to offer. Look for fishers, that's more of an indicator of core deposits.

This is a reply I made in another thread regarding asteroids with core: "If you always keep holding the pulse wave scanner button, at the end of each scan the asteroids change color and this is a very very good thing because it allows to almost instantly know if the asteroid is crackable even from far and avoiding waste prospectors, I'll explain, if at the end of the scan cycle when it changes color you see black spots or outlines all over the asteroid that means it has a mineable core.

Always look for the smallest of asteroids because the big ones even if brighter never have a core. If you have doubts you can turn the external lights on and approach the asteroids to see the fissures, one other thing is that I never use night vision I only use the external lights, I find it easier to find asteroids.

Been to two separate Void Opal hot spots now. But literally zero Void Opals. Everything except Void Opals. I suppose I will leave this system unless someone knows what might be going on. Going to try logging off and back on first. Showing 1 - 15 of 22 comments.

Try dropping into a different location in the hotspot. And never drop into the center. Pick a random location a few thousand km from center and head for the center. Originally posted by Bubba Fett :. Originally posted by FallenCat :.

Thread starter Thwarptide Start date Apr 10, I've just started to dabble in the exciting world of miningdeep core, subsurface, surface.

I've used EDD to locate pristine systems. DS scanned, mapped the ringed planets, especially the rings. Ive gone to several pristine rings, surface scanned em and made space tracks for the hotspots. Then working while pulse scanning up to 30km in all directions around the spot. Using this guide on what signatures to look for, I've only come across 1 opal and one LTD. Both times on the surface. Nothing strange here. Being in the hot spot doesn't mean every rock on your way is going to be full of treasures.

Being in the hot spot means your chances are higher.

Elite Dangerous: Double Painite Mining Guide

What you looking for is the ring with two or three if you lucky hot spots overlapping each other and you go in that particular area where they overlapping. It will make your chances much higher but it will still take some time.

I am mining for LTDs in the dual hot spot, my Cutter outfitted for mining in any conceivable way and it still takes hours to fill up my hold. Besides, mining requires some practice and eventually you'll get better at it. The way cores look is heavily influenced on your graphics hardware and settings. The above description is for an icy ring and may not apply in others even with my graphics setup. The thing to do is to try to remember what the good rocks looked like as you found them, that will make spotting them easier in the future.

The shape most often used to describe core rocks is pop corn, which I tentatively agree with as it isn't something I am very familiar with. If you encounter a lot of clouds in the hot spot that is an indication that someone in some mode or instance has been mining there fairly recently. Hot spots are reasonably large areas that have a higher than average concentration of stuff but most rocks in them will still be duds.

And I have had many fruitless visits. Roberts said:. Thwarptide said:. Haven't bumped into an overlapping spot just yet, though I'm aware of their existence. What's new New posts Latest activity.
