A Knock On Our Front Door
Sign up Forgot your password? T his happened when I was still young, round 6 or 7years old that time. We were living in Cavite, me my mom and my dad. My mom was sick during that time. She had been sick for 2 years actually with Lupus so she had to always rest in bed. My dad had a car shop in Mandaluyong City and would often come home late.
One specific night, when me and my mom were sleeping, I heard a knock on our front door. After a few seconds, I heard my dad say: "Anak, pabukas ng pinto child, please open the door.
Thinking it was my imagination, I went back to sleep. Just as I'm about to doze off again, I heard another knock.
And again I heard my dad asking me to open the door, this time calling me by my pet name that only he calls me with. Somehow, I felt really scared of the voice. So instead of going downstairs and opening the door, I looked out the window again and same thing, no one there on our front steps.
Getting really scared, I ran back to the bed, tried to wake up my mom. But all I could ever get is a moan and she would not budge. So I hid under the covers and closed my eyes. After a few minutes, the voice came again, this time not as sweet as earlier. It had the angry voice of my dad. And the knocking on the door became banging.
Di mo ba bubuksan ang pinto?!? I just stayed under the covers, trying to block out the sounds until I fell asleep. The next morning, I asked my mom if she heard anything. She said no, she said she had a good sleep.
And my dad? He came home right when we were having lunch, said he had to stay on overtime due to a celebrity's car needing overhaul. So who was the person with my dad's voice trying to get into our house? I don't know. I'm not psychic, I don't have anything supernatural. But when I told my grandfather about it, he just looked at me and said. Ganyan talaga anak. I didn't know what he meant. But I soon found out as I grew older.

A couple of years ago, when my mother still lived alone and before it became evident that her dementia was worsening, I took my wife and two daughters for an overnight visit. She lived about four hours from where we do, and we often planned visits that allowed us to spend two days or more with her. My mother liked to sleep on the couch in the living room. She had this irrational fear of sleeping upstairs, afraid that a middle of the night disaster or home invasion would go unnoticed if she slept on the upper floor.
My wife and I had gone to bed in a bedroom upstairs, while my kids were sleeping in yet another bedroom on the second floor. Or perhaps the dog heard this stranger, with no intention of knocking on the porch prowling around. I immediately got out of bed and pulled my pants on to see what was happening. I quickly returned to my bedroom and grabbed my Sig Sauer. As I reached the foot of the steps I saw a strange male, repeatedly trying to open the storm door which fortunately, was locked.
My mother still seemed to be bewildered at the whole situation and was trying to ask the stranger what he wanted and who he was looking for. I gently moved my mother out of the way and firmly explained to the man he had the wrong address.
I made sure he saw the very large firearm I was holding in my right hand. I immediately locked the front door and performed a security check of all the doors and windows in the house. I scolded my mother for answering the door in the middle of the night and returned upstairs to calm my own family, who were upstairs listening to the entire incident. The fact is, a lot of people are uncertain what to do when someone knocks on their door in the middle of the night.
My mother is far from the only one who would have responded in the manner that she did. Many people are raised from a very young age to be helpful, considerate, and polite, even to strangers. There is no set answer to this question because there are simply too many variables that could impact the correct course of action.
But I can tell you, after 30 years of law enforcement, that knocking on the front door in the middle of the night is not an uncommon tactic for home invaders to use. This could be a male or a female pretending to be in distress and needing assistance.
Just out of view, on one or both sides of the door are more attackers waiting to push their way into the house as soon as the door is unlocked and opened. The second scenario is where the same, male or female accomplice knocks on the front door and attempts to hold the attention of the resident. Both of these scenarios are highly effective, and both rely on your good intentions and desire to help strangers.
My suggestion is for you to consider the same logic I tried to explain to my mother before leaving, in the hopes that she would never repeat her actions. Do NOT answer the door in the middle of the night or early morning.
Once you commit to unlocking and opening your door you have, at the very least even the odds for the person in front of you. If there are more than the one you see, you have tipped the odds unevenly in their favor, even if you are armed. As a police officer, you learn that one of the riskiest actions you can take is when you are off-duty with no immediate back-up.When I was alone at home one day, I was more excited than being afraid.
My parents had gone for an invitation and had left me behind as I was not keen in going with them. I was feeling free like a bird and very independent for the first time in my life.
I had some snacks that my mother had prepared along with a glass of hot chocolate, which is my favourite. I then sank into the couch and began reading one of my favourite stories of the Hardy Boys. I read the story book for about an hour and then decided to take a break. It was around p. My favourite television programme would begin at p. Any way for about another two hours I would be the master of my life!
I peeped out of the window.

There was the full moon shining brightly on the streets. Some children were playing badminton on a cool wintry night. A cool and fresh gust of wind was blowing through the window. I went to the kitchen and then to the refrigerator to find something to munch on. Finding something to eat, I returned to the hall room where I became a couch potato and watched my favourite Television programme.
It was a power cut. Suddenly I found myself in darkness. What bad luck, I thought to myself. I went to find the emergency light to get rid of the darkness around me. I was feeling a bit afraid in the dark, but was finding the whole episode more like some sort of an adventure.
COMPLETE THE STORY
Suddenly I heard a loud 'thud' on the door. My heart skipped a beat. I nervously peeped through the keyhole, but could not see anyone. Then again another loud knock! I immediately phoned by neighbour on the first floor, who said he was coming in a moment. In the mean time I held myself together and decided to open the door. How To Fall Asleep In 2 Minutes
I opened the door and saw no one; but I thought I saw something crawl into the room. It looked like some sort of animal, may be one or two. I ran down to call my neighbour and was relieved to see him climbing up the stairs. We both entered the house and heard some chattering in the kitchen. We peeped in slowly and saw two creatures sitting on the table in the kitchen.
They looked like monkeys and indeed they were. Not knowing what to do, we decided to alert the neighbourhood. By now the power was restored and the monkeys came running right at us. Immediately I pulled out a sack from the shelf and threw it on the animal.
My neighbour was quick to pounce on it and quickly tied up the sack. The other monkey managed to escape from the window. These two monkeys were tormenting the neighbourhood for quite some time; and now we had caught one! My parents had returned by then and when they heard the whole episode, they were happy to see me safe and sound.
They thanked my neighbour too. That means something. I had it already few times: somebody knocked on the door and when I went out there was nobody. I didn't dream it. This morning at am I was awake and somebody has knocked pretty loud on the door inside.
I was scared to the death. I had intention to go to the toilette but have waited about 15 minutes. After some time I switched both lights there are two in the room and went to WC.

In the front room was nobody. Outside door was locked. Once, 5 years ago one woman died she knew me. Few days later I have got the news that she died at the same time, I have heard knocking. Normally when you hear knocking 3 knocks on the door it does mean that someone is going to die. Well that is the myths in Ireland, i have heard many stories about it. Maybe its nothing and then again maybe its something, try not to worry too much about it can do your head in.
I think the 3 knocks on the window is somewhat true, becase I experienced the same thing around the time my grand-dad died. The weird thing was that it happend to 2 others of my reletives, my unkles and aunts up the road and my other unkle who lives around 20 or so miles away. The knocking scared the hell out of me because at the time I was having a nightmare. First i was outside in it looking up into a thunderstorm then being grabbed by a huge black eagle with a wingspan the size of a house and dragged into the sky then into the doorway of the outhouse of the house opposite us, i awoke then then about 15 seconds later is when the tapping on the window began.
I wouldnt look at the time because I thougth the eagle was outside my window i was young at the time so i just shouted for my dad who was at home as mom was at hospital and he looked and nout there.
Within 15 minutes of transitioning between sleep and awake, we may experience various hallucinations, any or all of the five senses. The most common is sounds, with images being next - knocking, voices, whispers and music are the most common. Since it was about am and the OP was up to go the bathroom, though they didn't say it, it's likely they had been asleep very recently, so easily within the window for sleeptime hallucinations.
Not sure how any of this relates to the five years previous story, except the knocking, but I'd note that things we 'remember' from years ago are likely very different than what actually happened.
That five years ago was true because I have got a mail that this person died at the time, somebody was knocking on my door. The knocking on the door happened more times in last time, but during sleeping. After I woke up, there was nobody outside. It was knocking on the outside door from the corridorbut this time was inside apartment.
At am I was awake and was ready to go to the toilette but have heard loud knocking sounds terrible. I was trembling from the fear. After 15 minutes had to open that door and there was nobody. Of course, alive person should open first outside door to come in.Anyone who is ringing your doorbell or knocking on your door late at night or early morning hours is very likely up to no good.
In fact their intentions may be very bad. One person at the door claiming to need some assistance while others are off to the side waiting for the door to open so they can burst in.
NOTE: Elderly are particularly vulnerable. Sadly for some, dementia may be setting in, and potential poor judgement. Elderly may also be more vulnerable to opening the door. Perhaps gullible. Nearly everyone today has a cell phone. If they truly need assistance, they could have called for example.
If that person or persons actually need help, then they should be relieved at those words. However I suspect It happens to some of you, sometimes regularly depending on the neighborhood. That is, you hear an unexpected knock on your front door. NOT the best idea without doing other things first. Some people blindly open the door to see who it is or what they want.

You might simply ignore the knock and continue to go about your normal activities inside the home. However, be aware that if there actually is a burglar on the other side, this may be what they are hoping for no one at home and break in….
If you have a strong and well mounted door chain lock, you could simply crack open the door to speak with the stranger through the gap. Keep your foot on the door. The standard screws that come with a door chain lock are often too short for a good secure grip.
Most women are not as physically strong as men, and may be vulnerable in that regard. Through the door, say that your husband or father, brother, etc. This will deter a potentially bad situation. An Extra Large dog bowl outside the front door sends a strong message! A barking dog will also deter a stranger or solicitor who may have bad intentions.
But not always. If you do not recognize and trust the person on the other side of the door, and especially if you feel uncomfortable or suspicious about the circumstance — just in case, why not arm yourself?
Arming yourself will enable protection should that person actually be a burglar or home invader. Just saying…. The few thoughts listed above are just a sampling of many options for you when a stranger knocks on your door.

Her grandfather had suddenly taken ill and because of her school, Sneha couldn't leave with them. Sneha's mother had been very worried while leaving as she had never left her alone, but Sneha assured her that she would be fine and anyways it was just for the night, as in the morning her aunt would reach from Pune.
Sneha spent the afternoon and evening playing on the computer and then finishing her home work. But with nightfall all her courage seemed to be disappearing. She thought first she would sleep with the light on but then she couldn't get sleep with the lights shining on her face, so she switched it off.
Sneha started getting frightened. While tossing and turning on the bed she happened to look towards the window and her mind started conjuring up all sorts of shapes in the darkness. She told herself it was just the tree outside and nothing else but yet she was scared.
It was then that she heard the noise in the hall. Sneha was alarmed. She thought of going and seeing what was making the noise but she couldn't get up from the bed. Finally she mustered up enough courage to go and investigate. She went into the hall and there was the noise once again.
She quickly switched on the light and what she saw shocked her. What was making that noise? Did Sneha overcome her fear? Where will the children play? Send your stories to editor dimdima. All Rights Reserved. It was the first time that Sneha was alone at home.
